Verification Codes
SwiftMail detects verification codes in unread inbox emails for the active account. You can copy a code without opening its email.
Copy from the inbox
Section titled “Copy from the inbox”A Copy Code button appears at the far right of the sender column when SwiftMail recognizes a code. The button stays visible without hovering.
Click it to copy the code, then paste it into the app or website where you’re signing in. SwiftMail moves the email containing that code to Trash; other messages in the conversation stay in place.
Copy from a notification
Section titled “Copy from a notification”Allow SwiftMail notifications in macOS to receive code alerts. The alert identifies the sender and account and offers Copy Code.
Copying from the notification uses the same clipboard and Trash behavior as the inbox button. Copying from either place also removes the matching code notification.
Code notifications can appear while SwiftMail is in the foreground. If you miss an alert, look in Notification Center or use the inbox button.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Open SwiftMail for Gmail → Settings… and use Verification code notifications to enable or disable this feature. It is enabled by default. Turning it off disables code detection and inbox copy buttons as well as code notifications.
macOS notification permission controls the alerts separately. Inbox copying works even when notifications are blocked.
Which emails qualify?
Section titled “Which emails qualify?”The email must be unread and in the active account’s Inbox, outside Spam and Trash. SwiftMail looks for a single clear code near verification or sign-in wording; it may skip messages with unusual formatting or conflicting codes.
SwiftMail does not impose a time limit on detected codes. The service that sent the code can still expire it, so use the newest code available. Opening the email marks it read and can remove its Copy Code button.
Sync and errors
Section titled “Sync and errors”Mail refreshes approximately every three minutes while SwiftMail is open. To check for a new code sooner, use the refresh button or press Command-R in the inbox. Once a code email is saved locally, SwiftMail submits its notification without waiting for the next refresh; macOS notification settings can affect when you see it.
If a code copies successfully but moving its email to Trash fails, the code remains on the clipboard and SwiftMail shows an error. You can paste the code and move the email to Trash manually after the connection returns.
