Updating the App

SwiftMail includes an updater, so you can install newer versions without downloading the app again from the website.

  1. Open SwiftMail for Gmail and connect to the internet.
  2. Choose SwiftMail for Gmail → Check for Updates… from the macOS menu bar.
  3. If an update is available, follow the update window’s instructions to download, install, and relaunch the app.

If you already have the latest version, the updater tells you that you’re up to date.

Automatic update checks are enabled by default. The app checks roughly once a day while it is running and shows an update window when a newer version is available.

To turn automatic checks off or on, open SwiftMail for Gmail → Settings… and change Check for updates automatically. Your choice is saved between launches. You can still use Check for Updates… when automatic checks are off.

Automatic installation is off by default. You can choose whether to install each update, or opt into automatic downloading and installation through the updater’s options.

You can also download the latest ZIP. This link always provides the newest release.

Quit SwiftMail, unzip the download, and replace the existing SwiftMail for Gmail app in Applications with the downloaded copy. Then reopen the app.
