Troubleshooting
Sign-in fails
Section titled “Sign-in fails”Try signing in again. If the Google sign-in window reports an authorization problem, confirm that the app has been configured for the correct Google project and Gmail API access.
Sync failed
Section titled “Sync failed”If a message list shows Sync Failed, click Retry.
If sync continues to fail:
- Check your internet connection.
- Confirm the Gmail account is still connected in Settings.
- Switch accounts and switch back to force a fresh account sync.
No messages appear
Section titled “No messages appear”If a label shows No Messages, pull to refresh or use the refresh toolbar button. Some labels only load when opened.
For search, confirm whether Include Spam & Trash should be enabled.
Actions fail
Section titled “Actions fail”If Archive, Trash, Spam, Labels, or other Gmail actions fail, SwiftMail shows an Action Failed alert. Check your connection and retry the action.
Attachment download fails
Section titled “Attachment download fails”Choose a writable folder when prompted. If another attachment download is waiting for folder selection, finish or cancel that selection before starting another download.
Compose send or save fails
Section titled “Compose send or save fails”SwiftMail shows Send Failed or Save Failed with the underlying error. Check that the account is connected and that the Mac is online, then try again.
Offline mode
Section titled “Offline mode”When No Internet Connection appears, already-synced messages can still be read from the local cache. New syncs, sends, downloads, and Gmail actions need the connection to return.
